Your B'Av Time of joy
"Your B'Av is the beginning of the joys"
What is Your V'Av? And why is this day related to love?
This day is called "Tu b'Av", since the Hebrew letters of this date are Tav-Vav (Day 15 of the month of Av) this day has a festive character, and recalls a series of happy events of the Jewish history:
-It's the day the desert generation stopped dying.
-It is the day on which the marriage between members of different tribes was allowed (after the parcelling of the Land of Israel)
-It is the day on which the prohibition of marrying any person from the Binyamin tribe was lifted after the incident of the En Guivá concubine (Judges 20-21)
-It is the day that Hoshea Ben Eila (King of Israel) removed the guards that Iarovam Ben Nevat had placed to prevent people from ascending to Jerusalem on the pilgrimage festivals.
-It's the day they stopped cutting wood for the altar.
-It is the day the Beitar martyrs were buried.
In previous generations the 15th of Av was celebrated as a complete holiday, now that the Beit Hamikdash is in ruins, and many of the holidays recorded in Megillat Taanit are no longer celebrated, our rejoicing finds its main expression "In the Torah Study "
As our Sages taught (Berachot 8A) "Since the Beit Hamikdash was destroyed, Hashem only has the four amot (the four cubits) that of Halacha, as the place of purple.
The destruction of the temples had no effect on the Torah, therefore, also after the destruction, "Hashem's Commandments Are Just and Rejoice the Heart" ( Psalms 19-8), in the same way they practiced Torah Study before, until now, therefore it is customary to add more hours of Torah Study at night from dated.
