Parasha Ree 5783
"The Creator sets before you good and evil, so that you may choose."
Parasha Ree (Devarim-Deut 11:26-16:17)
In this Parasha the instructions that the Creator gives us are very clear.
""Go," says Moses to the people of Israel, "Look, I set before you today, the blessing and the curse," the blessing that will come when you observe the Divine commandments and the curse if you abandon them.
This Parasha, as we already mentioned, is very clear, since the Eternal tells us to follow the path of obedience; now it is up to us to take that path or not.
It is written in the Torah:
"See what I set before you today: blessing and cursing."
When the Creator sends us abundance, it descends as an undifferentiated light.
It is up to each individual to create a container to capture that abundance.
If our vessel is complete, (we care for and obey the Covenant) we can then receive the Creator's blessing.
But if the vessel is not full, then even if the light of the Blessing reaches the person, he will have no means to capture it.
After the Torah tells us several precepts, it continues:
"Keep and obey everything I command you, so that it may go well with you and your children after you, forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of your Creator, your Lord." (Devarim-Deut 12.28)
"Guard and obey" It is very difficult to protect oneself from the cunning and tricks of Yitzer Hara (evil inclination) Therefore, it is very necessary to be very vigilant and careful to avoid falling into the traps.
There are times when actions are presented to us as good, when in reality they go against the person, For example, in our law it is stipulated that a person must have a clean body both physically and mentally (clean thoughts) at the time of praying, the evil inclination tries to convince the person that he should take time for bodily preparation in the morning, before reciting the morning prayer and even though these preparations take so much time that he eventually misses the time required to perform the prayer and misses it.
Patience is essential to overcome the evil inclination. Only by taking care of oneself and patiently enduring all obstacles can one attain the Torah.
First of all, it is true that we need "Ratzon" (will or desire) to "want to take the path" but we also require wisdom and knowledge to "knowing how to make the right choice." Hashem will give you this through prayer, Hitbodedut, and of course, through the study of the Torah and the Holy Books.
