The importance and beauty of Hanukkah

The importance and beauty of Hanukkah

Have you ever wondered how suitable your Hanukkah is?

Our Hanukkah must be as beautiful and as beautiful as possible to be used! "New or renewed"

Surely you wouldn't use an ugly, dirty or broken Hanukkah for this important precept!

Let's see what our Sages say:

Clay vessels are disqualified from being used as Hanukkah, because they cannot be seen as new again. However, glass or metal containers can be used because even if they do not seem new, it is always possible to polish them and make them look like new.

The same applies to us, if we believe that we can always turn a new page, the Light of the Creator will shine on us always, regardless of age. But when we give up hope of starting over, when we give up because we are "too old", the Light of the Creator cannot shine on us, no matter how young we are!

Some of the important laws of Hanukkah:

The Hanukkah should always look like new however, it is allowed to light the candles in a Hanukkah that does not look new, (As long as it is clean and in excellent condition) but a Hanukkah should not be used made of clay, because after being used it never looks like new again.

The Hanukkah must be placed in its proper place before lighting your candles and not vice versa. If possible, the Hanukkah candles should not be located higher than 10 feet above the ground, and should be placed next to the entrance door, on the left side in front of the Mezuza.

The ideal place to light the candles is outside the front door of our home.
If for some reason this is not possible, they can be lit in front of the window. And if this is not possible either, it must be turned on at least on a table.
It is preferable to use olive oil for the Hanukkah lights instead of candles, as the miracle was performed with oil.

The Hanukkah lights should be turned on at dusk or at nightfall. The candles should be long enough, or the oil abundant enough, to stay lit for at least half an hour after nightfall.
If they are turned off before this minimum time, it is not necessary to turn them on again.
Each night an additional candle is lit for the new day. (thus remembering the miracle)

No use should be made of the light produced by the Hanukkah candles.
Hanukkah candlelight should not be used for any personal gain.

And remember, renew yourself, it is forbidden to be old!
