Parasha Vayikra
Wishing that all humanity have a time of reflection, repentance and approach towards the Creator, that we can approach Him and thus obtain His Mercy so that all this plague can stop.
This week's Parasha begins with the reading of the Book of Vayikra (Leviticus 1: 1-5: 26).
It is an ancient custom to begin Torah education with children with the Sefer Vaykrá (Book of Leviticus). This is because children are pure, and Vaykrá speaks of sacrifices offered in a state of ritual "purity".
As it is written:
"Let the pure come and dedicate themselves to the study of the pure" (Vaykrá Rabá 7: 3)
Likewise in the Sefer Torah, the letter Alef (א) of the word Vaykrá (which this time Aleph sounds like an "A") is translated as: "He Called" is written smaller than the other letters, this small letter is known as 'Alef zeirá' (small Alef)
In Aramaic the word Alef means: "to teach" and zeirá also connotes "young", so Alef zeirá can be read as: "teach young children "
Which tells us that we should start teaching Torah to our children from the Book of Leviticus" Vaykrá "
But perhaps this time he is giving us a special message, which could be" Through something very Little one, the Blessed Creator is making us a great call. " Well, He doesn't need something big to get our attention. Maybe it could be that little virus that can only be seen through powerful electric microscopes, but capable of paralyzing an entire world?
This Book of the Torah bears the name of Vaykrá because it begins as follows:
"He called Moshe from the Tent of Meeting saying ..."
(Vaykrá-Leviticus 1, 1)
As we know, this Parasha talks about sacrifices, and many may wonder why we now need to understand "sacrifices" if we no longer have the Tabernacle or the Great Temple, or all the service or ritual of the Kohanim? (Priestly Service)
But the truth is that the Torah always brings us current messages and this Parasha teaches us a lot today, since all the holocausts and sacrifices have been transformed by "The prayer"
As the Prophet said:
"His burnt offerings and his sacrifices will be accepted on My altar, since My House, House of prayer will be called for all peoples." (Isaiah 56: 7)
In the book of Vaikra (Leviticus) he mentions us and explains each one of the sacrifices that should be presented by the community.
KoRBan in Hebrew, which we can translate as a sacrifice or offering, has the same root as "KaRoB" which means "Near" the Korbanot (plurar of Korban) Sacrifices or offerings, it was a means to "Approach" to the Blessed Creator !
Now, as we mentioned before, although we do not have the Great Temple, those Korbanot are still in force before Hashem Itbaraj (The Creator Blessed Be He) and they are our prayers.
The world must heed that "call" for attention of that little plague, let's get closer to our Father, let's raise our prayers to Heaven!
Dedicated for a prompt complete cure of the corona virus patients, especially Shunit bat Malka and all the patients of Am Israel and the whole world and may we have good news for everyone!
